I was fortunate enough to get my hands on both the BH Cosmetics Shaaanxo palette and the Kylie Kyshadow Palette and as many of us in the makeup world knows, they have been compared so many times it’s hard to really distinguish which review is saying what.

So I thought I’d go ahead and give you my honest review on both eyeshadow palettes and maybe help you decide which one to get. But, hey you’re more than welcome to get both products should you wish to have both.  So today’s advice will be for someone who is having a hard time choosing between the two.

I will say though that they have such a disparity in the price point that if you find it better or more practical to get the more budget-friendly palette go ahead, or if you are someone who wants to get the more expensive palette then, by all means, it really is in how you learn to use the product.

Packaging:

Both palettes come in a cardboard magnetic flip-top packaging. The Shaaanxo palette is bigger in size (12.5cm x 12.5 cm in L and W) and has more products contained: 9 eyeshadows and 9 lip colors. The packaging also contains a mirror on both sides of the palette, since the Shaaanxo palette offers a dual-sided palette to house all 18 products.

The Kylie Kyshadow palette is a bit smaller 10.5 cm x 10.5 cm and thinner at 1 cm. It does not contain a mirror and it only has the 9 eyeshadows in it. The Kyshadow packaging does seem to be a bit sturdier, and I mean it feels heavier, and the paper packaging seems like it’s outfitted better and more snug compared to the packaging of the Shaaanxo palette.

Since the actual point of comparison are the eyeshadows I won’t be talking about the lip creams in the Shaaanxo palette, so let’s dive right in.

At first glance you’ll see that the eyeshadow palette seem similar in terms of color palette used. Both of them are very brown and neutral and I think this is where the comparison comes from, however, I would like to point out that I have seen the aesthetics of both Kylie Jenner and Shaaanxo and I can see why they’d both have a neutral universal palette. It seems to me, they have the same thing in mind: creating a universal palette they would actually wear. And true enough I see Kylie Jenner in her palette and Shannon Harris in hers. And this is actually where the comparison stops.

Upon touching and feeling the products, the Shaaanxo palette seems to be a bit more inconsistent in terms of payoff and pigmentation. Where some shades are highly pigmented and opaque; the others are more patchy and powdery. The shimmer shades of the Shaaanxo palette also seem to be a bit chunky in texture with a lot of fallout and barely any staying power.

The Kylie Kyshadow palette, in my own humble experience, performs exponentially better than the Shaaanxo palette. Although there is a learning curve to the Kyshadow palette, where you need to get used to and know how to use the product correctly. It is a bit more consistent in terms of payoff, pigmentation, and longevity.  All the eyeshadows are medium coverage, highly blendable, and easily buildable. I did not see any fall outs when I was using and experimenting with the product which is really good. The shimmer shades are satin finish and appear to be finely milled judging by how they feel on my fingers and how they look like on the skin.

Price:

The price point of these two products is nowhere near each other, with the Shaaanxo palette’s price mark at $22 given that it’s made in China and the Kylie Kyshadow palette setting you back for $45 for a product that is US-made.

How They Compare

Personally, I don’t find these palettes similar in any way, really just the number of eyeshadows in the palette. Even the colors in the eyeshadow palette aren’t similar at a closer look. Between the two, I reach more for the Kylie Kyshadow palette because I find it is more consistent in terms of how the product performs which makes it easier for me as a professional, not having to second guess a product before I use it.

I hope this article helped you come to a decision, whether you wanted to buy the palettes or whether you’re about to put it off. It’s never easy to choose between products you like, trust me, as a working professional, it’s still one of the hardest things I do.
